Movement Dynamics in Arachnids
Biography
Dr. Dinesh Rao is a prominent Principal Investigator at the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico, where he leads a research laboratory specializing in predator-prey interactions and visual ecology. His academic journey is marked by extensive international training, beginning with undergraduate studies at St. Joseph's College in Bangalore, followed by a Master’s in Ecology from the Salim Ali School of Ecology in Pondicherry, India. He further refined his expertise with a second Master’s degree at the Albert Katz International School for Desert Studies in Israel, focusing on the desert spider Cyrtophora citricola. Dr. Rao earned his PhD from Macquarie University in Australia, where he conducted influential research on how flying insects perceive and respond to spider web decorations. Currently, his work in Mexico integrates these diverse ecological backgrounds to explore the sensory and behavioral mechanisms of survival. By examining the visual cues and environmental factors that dictate hunting and evasion, Dr. Rao provides critical insights into the evolution of arachnid behavior and the complex dynamics of tropical ecosystems.
