Arachnid Systematics of the Oriental and Indo-Pacific Regions
Biography
Dr. Stephanie F. Loria is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, Oklahoma, United States, where she also serves as Curator of Terrestrial Invertebrates. She is an evolutionary biologist and arachnologist working on the systematics, taxonomy, biogeography, and evolution of poorly studied arthropods, especially scorpions, spiders, pseudoscorpions, and related groups. Her research has made significant contributions to Asian and Indo-Pacific arachnid systematics, including Asian forest scorpions, cave-relict scorpions, Burmese amber arachnids, and Western Ghats pseudoscorpions. She uses DNA data, morphology, GIS mapping, R-based analyses, and advanced imaging to study diversification and evolutionary history. Dr. Loria is also co-founder and president of The Metropolitan Society of Natural Historians, a nonprofit organization dedicated to public science education.
